Memorial Art Gallery is honored to be part of "Her Voice Carries." By collaborating with Sarah C. Rutherford, we continue our efforts to cultivate relationships and build community through the direct experience of art and creativity. During this cold, snowy winter, get outside: Travel the network of murals throughout the City that makes up "Her Voice Carries."
Originally a Boston native, Sarah C. Rutherford has found herself in love with Rochester, NY. Through murals, installations and art pieces she has explored the broken pieces of this city though its discarded treasures and hidden worlds. This mural is part of Rutherford's HER VOICE CARRIES project.

Mural series 'Her Voice Carries' lifts local women
"The roots of this project are in another wall painting Rutherford completed about two years ago in the tunnels that connect various buildings at the University of Rochester. The painting depicts both younger and older versions of suffragist Susan B. Anthony, and includes the school's flower, a blooming dandelion, with its seeds floating toward a modern young woman."
